Our little anecdote
The White Lady was invented in 1919 in London by British bartender MacElhone. It wasn’t until 1923, when he bought Harry’s Bar in Paris, that he changed his own White Lady recipe and created the cocktail we know today. To do this, he replaced the crème de menthe with gin, which he combined with cointreau and lemon, making this recipe a mixture of surprising and well-balanced.
Our advice for a successful White Lady
We of course encourage you to squeeze your own lemons by favoring organic lemons purchased from your local market gardeners. As for the color of lemons, we advise you to opt for yellow lemons. If the time is not right or if you are short on time, choose organic squeezed lemon juice or verjuice. Your White Lady cocktail will thank you.
In addition, if you want, you can add a dash of sugar syrup to make your cocktail even sweeter.
If you liked this recipe, don’t hesitate to taste the Clover Club, a variation of the White Lady with egg white and raspberry syrup on top.
