Bloody Mary on the beach
THE SPICY AND FIERY COCKTAIL
The Bloody Mary is a spicy and fiery cocktail. It is said to have been created in 1921 by a French bartender.
Here we hijack the traditional recipe for a Bloody Mary First, because we prefer the red tomatoes of Marie the Bloody to be green (more suited to Melifera, no?). Secondly, because we opted for a gin variation of the Bloody Mary instead of the classic vodka version.
Another name for the Gin based Bloody Mary is the Red Snapper … here it’s the Bloody Mary at the beach!

Our little anecdote
It is not clear where the name Bloody Mary comes from. However, two historical figures are associated with it.
On one hand we have, Queen Mary 1st of England, Mary Tudor, daughter of King Henry VIII of England and nicknamed “Bloody Mary” due to her reputation as a cruel and bloodthirsty queen during her reign between 1553 and 1558.
This nickname was also credited to the writer Ernest Hemingway who, while writing about his wife’s angers, also nicknamed her Bloody Mary.
Our tips for a successful Bloody Mary cocktail on the beach
To personalize this recipe, feel free to add condiments. Among them, we recommend tabasco, celery salt, pepper, or Worcestershire sauce.
Finally for the garnish, olives, basil, a chili pepper or even a stalk of celery can come decorate and enhance your Bloody Mary at the beach.
